"Adventures in the Outback: Part I" Katelin's photos around Alice Springs, Australia
A TripAdvisor⢠TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Alice Springs, Australia by TravelPod blogger Katelin titled "Adventures in the Outback: Part I" Katelin's travel blog entry: "i just got back from an amazing 4 days in the Australian Outback. i almost wasn't going to go, but i happened to find some cheap flights through an online Qantas promotion and that pretty much made my mind up for me. i really didn't want to leave Australia without going to "The Red Centre" as the area is called. i flew from Cairns into the Red Centre "capital" of Alice Springs and before we had even landed you could see the land changing below. i was lucky to have been assigned a window seat and i took some neat pics out of the airplane window of the red desert below us (the Simpson Desert, i think?) and i realized that once in Alice, it will be the furthest away from the ocean that i will have ever been. freaky! i have never been to a desert or even a classified "arid region" for that matter, and i was most excited to say the least. as soon as we stepped off the plane and walked from the tarmac to the terminal you could see how extremely dry everything was. i was told there hadn't been rain since november. sand. everything was sand. barely any grass....well, not green grass anyways. the colors of the huge MacDonnell Ranges were reddish/brown/tan mixed with the orange/yellow of the ground sediments to make a surprizingly beautiful scene, especially at sunset. my plane landed around 1 pm and i ...
"Day 17: Boat Trip & final day in Koh Chang" Saundh's photos around Ko Chang, Thailand
A TripAdvisor⢠TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Ko Chang, Thailand by TravelPod blogger Saundh titled "Day 17: Boat Trip & final day in Koh Chang" Saundh's travel blog entry: "--Morning-- It was an early start, kindly reminded to us by Hugo (waking us up with 30 mins to spare) to catch our boat trip around the islands. Everyone decided to opt in to this optional trip. The trip is organized by Om Bar, who have a boat anchored out from lonely beach, and is run by the head bar waitress. We met at lonely beach at 10 am and got on a power boat over to the cruiser. The boat trip would be made up of 4 stops- 2 to snorkeling sites, 1 to a stunning private beach on Koh Wai and one to feed some nearby monkeys. Snorkeling equipment is included, as is free bottled water all day, free lunch and fruit and food at the after party at Om Bar. This is amazing value for money at only 450 Baht per person (less than 9 pounds). --Snorkeling-- We set off for a 90 minute journey to our first site off Koh Khum. We got given snorkeling equipment and jumped in for some exploration. The water was lovely and cool, which is handy given the hot conditions today. The wildlife was abundant with colorful tropical fish swimming right up to you. I even spotted some eels nearby. The waters were so clear you could see down quite far down with ease. Whilst we were all snorkeling, one of the crew members went fishing off the power boat. The reasons for this came clearer later. We climbed back aboard after ...
"12 Islands Cruise" Mawakefi's photos around Fethiye, Turkey
A TripAdvisor⢠TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Fethiye, Turkey by TravelPod blogger Mawakefi titled "12 Islands Cruise" Mawakefi's travel blog entry: "We woke up around 8:30 and got dressed in our swimmers, then had a light breakfast at the pansion - really great honey, Pine honey, I must try to find some - before heading off to the harbour. We stopped along the way to stock up on water at a local supermarket. Our cruise wasn't sailing due to low numbers, so the guy got us onto another boat - the KardeÅler (Brothers) - for the same thing. There were about 25-30 people on this cruise but the boat was large, so we had a corner with comfy seats all to ourselves. The 12 Islands cruise travels around a cluster of 12 islands in and around the Fethiye harbour. Most cruises follow the same path and stop at or near four islands for swim breaks. Ours was no exception. We boated across turquoise, calm waters to a beautiful rocky, forested island for our first swim break. The water was very clear and about 4 metres deep; we were cautioned to be careful about touching the ocean floor as sea urchins liked to camp out here. We entered the water via a ladder off the side of the boat and had a brief swim before getting back aboard. Our next stop was near another beautiful, forested, and rocky island while lunch was served. We opted for chicken, which came in schnitzel-patty form, and we used the open buffet to fashion ourselves some chicken burgers. The next stop was at Flat Island ...
Planet Rap
Uploading this by request. Helped 8th grade Autumn Rigney with an Astronomy assignment. She compiled facts about the planets and I recorded a "rap" about the planets. She found pictures of the planets and then I assembled it in a video. Here's the text... Now don't space out, elbows off the table 8th hour is the best when you've got Miss Able My rhymes are tight, but in case you missed em check out the planets in our solar system Mercury is first, but it ain't much fun It's way too close to our flaming sun Much more hot than my skin can take Burn up like the cookies that my mamma bakes In the ancient days of Roman Myth Mercury's the messenger cause he's so swift That might sound good, but you best beware We can't live there, cause it gots no air If you march to the beat of a different drum Then Venus is a planet that you might like some This planet's a rebel, guess he knows best Rotates to right while the rest go left Still more hot than my cup of java Years ago covered in molten lava It's dead volcanos make me wanna shout Venus is the planet that's the odd one out Third rock from the sun's the one I know best Home to you and me and all the rest Many different gasses in our atmosphere Not too hot or cold, so life lives here Earth's crust is split in tectonic plates that move and shift and mountains make Peeps have lived here quite a while from the sun we're 93 million miles Mars is red due to iron dirt like rust made a stain on my favorite shirt Icy North Pole but no ...
The Kingmakers - Last Night In Nashville Documentary - Part 2 of 3
This is part 2, part 3 coming soon. This is only a rough edit. Part 1 is at www.youtube.com Ottawa rockabilly band The Kingmakers, preparing to record their third album, sought a studio with some history and a vintage vibe. "The experience of recording our first album at SUN Studio in Memphis, following in the footsteps of our heroes like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, was an amazing one," says guitarist John Cormier. "For our second album we stayed close to home, so it was time again to hit the road and see what a completely new environment could bring to the project". After considering legendary venues like Abbey Road (too expensive), RCA Studio B (no longer a commercial studio) and Muscle Shoals, the band eventually settled on Nashville and the studio of music icon Cowboy Jack Clement. Says upright bass player Steve Donnelly, "Cowboy Jack was a house engineer at SUN Studio in the fifties, engineer and friend to Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash, and went back to produce U2's Rattle and Hum session at SUN, using the same drums that we used on our first album. With all these connections, it just made sense to continue The Kingmakers musical journey in that direction." Through a connection via local peer Ray Harris, the band contacted Brooks Watson, the engineer and Clement's studio. "After speaking with Brooks in Nashville, it became clear that this was the studio for us. Brooks had the same laid-back southern style as James Lott, our engineer at SUN. So ...
