"Puno to Cuzco" Jess2010's photos around Puno, Peru

A TripAdvisorâ„¢ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Puno, Peru by TravelPod blogger Jess2010 titled "Puno to Cuzco!" Jess2010's travel blog entry: "I was kinda sad to be leaving the guest house in Puno as the husband and wife owners were so friendly and welcoming. Rather than just catch the bus straight to Cuzco i had booked a tour bus that takes you 4 different but important sites along the way with a buffet lunch included. I was dropped off to the office at 7.30am and by 8am we were on our way! The first site we went to was Pukara, where there was an Inca museum with old artifacts and 4000BC stone carvings as well as a nice church. Our guide explained the history about the carvings (snake, puma, condor, fish, man, and the sun) and what they represented in Inca culture, he also explained that these ruins are one of the first signs of civilized culture in the Peruvian Altiplano. Also he spoke about why on top of most of the houses we will see two bulls. They are guardians and represent protection, prosperity and fertility. From there it was onto our highest point of the day, La Raya at 4335meters above sea level. Here we had spectacular views of the mountains, the shrinking glacier (global warming) as well as the usual tourist market. For S/.2 i got a very cute photo with an old lady and her 2 alpacas. Lunch was buffet of veggies, fruit, salads and choices of chicken, fish & beef. Seeing as my digestive system was still playing up i decided to go the vegetarian option ...
